Homemade Peanut Butter
- Snack
- Serves Makes about 2 cups
- American
- Toddler friendly
Ingredients
- 16 oz roasted unsalted peanuts
- 1 tbsp coconut oil
- 5 tbsp honey
- 4 tsp cinnamon
Instructions
- 1. If starting from raw peanuts, roast them until lightly browned and fragrant (skip this if using already-roasted, unsalted peanuts).
- 2. Grind the peanuts in a food processor for several minutes until it forms a smooth, creamy paste -- stop occasionally to scrape down the sides so nothing gets stuck.
- 3. Warm the coconut oil slightly before adding it -- just enough to loosen it, not so hot that it starts cooking the peanuts. Add it a little at a time, processing until incorporated. Add a bit more than the recipe calls for if you want it more spreadable.
- 4. Add the honey and cinnamon and process until well combined. Taste and add more honey or cinnamon if you like.
- 5. Store in a sealed container.
Note
Needs a food processor. Try different nuts if you like. Toddler: thin with water or milk before serving -- straight peanut butter is a choking hazard.
